Counselling FAQs
What is counselling?
Counselling is a confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace. It offers support, reflection, and understanding, helping you make sense of what’s going on for you and work towards meaningful change.
Do I need to know what I want to talk about before starting?
No. You don’t need to prepare or have the “right words”. Many people come to counselling feeling unsure or overwhelmed. We can take things gently and explore whatever feels most important for you, as and when you’re ready.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another. We’ll discuss the contract, what’s brought you to counselling, what you’re hoping for, and how we might work together. There is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with.
Do I need to have an introductory call?
A free 15-minute introductory call is required before booking your first counselling session. This call gives us a brief opportunity to talk about what you’re seeking, answer any questions you may have, and ensure that the support I offer feels like the right fit for you. It is not a counselling session, and there is no obligation to continue afterwards.
What is your cancelation policy?
A minimum of 72 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment. In rare and unforeseen circumstances, only the room hire fee may be charged. This is considered on an individual basis and cannot be guaranteed. Further details are outlined in my terms and conditions.
Sessions are usually held weekly or fortnightly, though this can be discussed and reviewed depending on your needs and availability. Consistency and a regular pattern are an important part of the therapeutic work, particularly at the beginning of counselling.
How often are counselling sessions?
Each session lasts 50-minutes. The length of time you stay in counselling varies - some people come for short-term support, others choose to work longer-term. This is something we can review together.
How long does counselling last?
Yes. Confidentiality is a fundamental part of counselling. There are a small number of legal and ethical exceptions which will be explained clearly before we begin working together. You can also refer to my confidentiality policy.
Is counselling confidential?
Can I book and pay for counselling in block sessions?
Yes. Many clients choose to book counselling in blocks, which is a common and practical way of working. Blocks are typically booked in sets of 6 or 12 sessions, with payment required upfront. This helps provide continuity, consistency, and a regular space for the work.
You are under no obligation to continue. Counselling is a choice, and it’s important that it feels right for you. If you decide not to continue, that decision will be respected. Endings can be a meaningful part of counselling, and where possible it can be helpful to plan this together. There is no pressure to decide this in advance, and it can be discussed as the work develops.
What if I decide counselling isn’t right for me?
How can counselling help?
Counselling is not about being given advice or told what to do. Instead, it offers a supportive space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences openly and without judgement. Through counselling, you may begin to notice and reflect on unhelpful patterns, beliefs, or ways of thinking, and explore new perspectives that feel more supportive or balanced. The counselling relationship provides a confidential, neutral space where you can be honest and talk things through with someone who has no personal agenda or bias, allowing greater clarity and understanding to emerge over time.
Do you work with under 18s?
At present, I work with adults aged 18 and over only. Working with children and young people requires specific training and insurance, which I do not currently hold. This is an area I hope to expand into in the future, but for now I work within my current scope of practice to ensure safe and ethical support.
Energy Healing FAQs
What is energy healing?
Energy healing is a holistic practice that works with the body’s energetic system. Sessions involve the use of ethically sourced crystals and are focused on relaxation, balance, and supporting overall wellbeing. At the end of your first session, you will be given a hand-selected crystal to support your ongoing journey.
No. Energy healing and counselling are separate services. Energy healing does not replace counselling and is offered as an optional, complementary practice for those who feel drawn to it.
Is energy healing the same as counselling?
No. There is no expectation or requirement to engage in energy healing if you are coming for counselling. Counselling stands entirely on its own as a professional therapeutic service.
Do I have to have energy healing if I come for counselling?
What happens during an energy healing session?
Sessions begin with a brief consultation to understand your main concerns. Sessions are calm and gentle, and I recommend wearing light, comfortable clothing. You are invited to rest comfortably on a therapy bed while the session takes place. You are always in control and can ask questions or pause or stop the session at any time.
Energy healing sessions last 90-minutes. This allows time for a brief consultation at the beginning of the session, the energy healing itself, and space to gently ground and reflect afterwards.

Will you receive intuitive messages during an energy healing session?
As part of my energy healing practice, I may receive intuitive insights during a session. However, this is not guaranteed, and every session is different. Any intuitive information that arises is shared gently and respectfully, and only if it feels appropriate to do so.
Everyone’s experience of energy healing is unique. Some people notice physical sensations such as warmth, tingling, or deep relaxation, while others may experience noticeable shifts afterwards.
What does an energy healing session feel like?
Energy healing can be helpful for people who feel stuck, disconnected, or who sense that what they’re experiencing feels difficult to put into words. Some people explore energy healing after finding that talking therapies alone haven’t felt supportive for them, or alongside other forms of support. Energy healing works in a non-verbal, holistic way and may offer a different kind of space to connect with experiences that feel deeply rooted in the body or nervous system. As with any holistic practice, experiences vary from person to person, and energy healing is offered as an optional, complementary approach, not a replacement for counselling or medical care.
Why might energy healing be helpful or beneficial?
At present, I work with adults aged 18 and over only. Working with children and young people requires specific insurance, which I do not currently hold.
Do you offer energy healing to under 18s?
I recommend having three energy healing sessions to allow the work time to settle and fully integrate. This is offered as a guideline rather than a requirement, and there is no obligation to commit to a set number of sessions.
How many energy healing sessions do you recommend?
What is your cancellation policy for energy healing sessions?
You may cancel or reschedule an energy healing session up to 8 days before your appointment with no charge. If a session is cancelled or rescheduled within 7 days of the appointment, the room hire fee will be charged. Please note that if you choose to reschedule within this 7-day period, a new room hire fee will also apply. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the session are charged at the full session rate. Further details are outlined in my terms and conditions.
